How to Sublimate on Our Sublimation Ready Acrylic Blanks

Our Sublimation Ready Acrylic Blanks are designed for crisp, vibrant, and professional-quality prints with a unique 3D effect. Whether you're creating custom signage, décor, or personalised gifts, our acrylic blanks ensure high-definition transfers with long-lasting durability.

Step-by-Step Sublimation Instructions

1. Remove the Protective Film

Before starting, carefully peel off the protective film from both sides of the acrylic blank. This layer prevents scratches during handling and storage but must be removed for a clean sublimation surface.

2. Adjust Your Heat Press Settings

  • Temperature: 180°C
  • Pressure: Light to mediumAvoid heavy pressure, as it can cause warping, cracking, or uneven edges.
  • Protective Layer: Place a sheet of silicone paper on the bottom platen to protect your heat press from ink residue.

3. Position Your Design Correctly

  • No mirroring needed – print and place the design as-is.
  • Position your design onto the matte white side of the acrylic blank, facing up.
  • Secure the transfer sheet with heat-resistant tape, but avoid placing the tape directly on the blank’s edges to prevent marks.

4. Heat Press Application

  • Close the heat press and apply light to medium pressure.
  • Press for 80 seconds.
  • Do not use excessive pressure—this can lead to cracked edges or distorted prints.

5. Handle with Care

Once pressed, the acrylic will be extremely hot. Lift the silicone paper and transfer the blank onto a flat, smooth surface to cool.

6. Flatten for a Perfect Finish

  • Remove the top silicone paper and transfer sheet.
  • Place a fresh sheet of silicone paper back on the blank.
  • Apply a heavy book or flat weight to ensure the acrylic stays perfectly flat as it cools.

7. The Final Reveal

Once completely cooled, remove the silicone paper and admire your flawless sublimation print! The design appears embedded beneath the surface, creating a professional 3D effect.

Troubleshooting & Best Practices

  • Uneven edges or cracks? Reduce the pressure setting—excessive pressure causes stress fractures.
  • Faint or dull colours? Check that your temperature is set to 180°C and that you're using high-quality sublimation paper and ink.
  • Warping after pressing? Always cool the blank under a flat, weighted surface to maintain its shape.
  • Tape marks on the blank? Ensure heat-resistant tape is placed away from the edges or use minimal amounts.

By following these steps, you'll achieve bold, vibrant, and long-lasting sublimation prints on acrylic. Our 5mm thick acrylic blanks provide superior durability and a high-end finish, making them the perfect choice for businesses, crafters, and creatives alike.
