How to Sublimate on Both Sides of MDF and Acrylic Blanks (Yes, It’s Possible – But Read This First!)

⚠️ Before We Begin...

While it's technically possible to sublimate on both sides of our white-coated MDF and acrylic blanks, please note:

❗ These blanks are not coated for premium sublimation, and they won’t give you a glossy finish like specialized blanks.

Results may vary, and we don’t take responsibility for unsuccessful transfers.

Still want to try? Let’s make sure you do it right.

🔧 What You’ll Need:

✔ Essentials:

  • Sublimation printer & paper

  • Heat press

  • Heat-resistant tape

  • Butcher paper or Teflon sheets

  • Heat-resistant gloves

💡 Optional (but helpful):

  • Spray adhesive

  • Silicone mat

  • Pressing pillow or cooling rack

🟫 How to Sublimate Both Sides of MDF Blanks

✅ Step-by-Step:

  1. Print your designs mirrored for both sides.

  2. Clean the blank (avoid fingerprints).

  3. Secure side 1 with tape or spray adhesive.

  4. Sandwich with butcher paper (top and bottom).

  5. Press at 190°C for 60 seconds (medium pressure).

  7. Flip & repeat on side 2 with fresh paper.

🔍 Tips:

  • Cool between presses to avoid warping.

  • Press your “display” side second — for a cleaner finish.

  • Don't use too much pressure.

⚠️ Warnings:

  • May discolor at edges.

  • No glossy finish — only matte.

How to Sublimate Both Sides of White Acrylic Blanks

⚠️ Acrylic blanks are not made for sublimation. Proceed with caution.

✅ Step-by-Step:

  1. Print both sides mirrored.

  2. Remove protective film from one side only.

  3. Secure the print using spray adhesive or tape.

  4. Press at 180°C for 45–60 seconds (light pressure).

  5. Cool on a rack or flat surface.

  6. Remove second film & repeat for side 2.

🔍 Tips:

  • Use a silicone mat to avoid sliding or yellowing.

  • Do not press both sides without full cooling in between.

  • Expect a matte or rough finish.

⚠️ Warnings:

  • Warping is common under heat.

  • No glassy surface — use sublimation acrylic for that.
